Tara Sundaralingam

Tara Sundaralingam, 16, started learning Bharatanatyam at the age of six, and at the age of 8, she joined the Abhinaya Dance Company. She has studied under the guidance of Smt. Mythili Kumar and Smt. Aishwarya Venkat. Since 2025, Tara has been a part of the Junior Dance Company, directed by Smt. Malavika Walia. Tara has performed in Abhinaya Dance Company annual student dance recitals, JDC shows, San Francisco Bay Area events and temples.

Tara is a rising high school junior at Leland High School in San Jose, CA. Her school activities include Speech & Debate program for the past few years, and playing for the Girls basketball team. 

Outside of school, she volunteers for homeless shelters and other charities in San Jose. Tara wants to contribute to her ethnic roots and has set up a charity to raise funds for a school in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. 

Tonight marks her Arangetram — the formal solo debut where she ascends the stage in tribute to her guru, her family & friends, and the tradition that has shaped her.
